The General Practice Rural Incentives Program has a new name

From 1 January 2020, the General Practice Rural Incentives Program (GPRIP) will transition to the Workforce Incentive Program (WIP) – Doctor Stream.

From 1 January 2020, the General Practice Rural Incentives Program (GPRIP) will transition to the Workforce Incentive Program (WIP) – Doctor Stream.

The WIP – Doctor Stream will continue to encourage medical practitioners to work in rural and remote areas of Australia.

If you’re participating in the GPRIP on 31 December 2019, you’ll automatically move across to the WIP – Doctor Stream. The eligibility requirements and payments won’t change.

However, from 1 January 2020 the WIP – Doctor Stream will use the Modified Monash Model (MMM) geographical classification system 2019. This may impact service eligibility or payment rates if you provide services in a location that has changed classification.

The Department of Health will continue to pay your incentive payments directly to your nominated bank account.
