Membership Criteria

Those wishing to join the AAPM must comply with the AAPM Code of Ethics and are encouraged to pursue ongoing education through the AAPM Professional Development Program.

 

Fellows and Associate Fellows must meet minimum education points on a continuing basis.

 

 

Member - MAAPM

 

  1. A  Full Member is any person who demonstrates that they are a Practice Manager, or actively involved (eg Business Manager, Consultant Practice / Business Manager) in the management of healthcare practice(s) in accordance with the criteria as determined by the Board.
  2. a Full Member is entitled to one vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. a Full Member is eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  4. a Full Member is eligible to be considered for Membership of the Board;
  5. a Full Member is required to pay the annual subscription fee.
  6. a Full Member is permitted to use their Post-Nominals after their name

 

Application is based on supporting documentation confirming their position as a Practice Manager. This may be a letter from their employer, on letterhead, verifying their position or a business card / practice newsletter. Member membership remains with the individual, not the practice.

 

 

Associate

 

  1. A person who is not eligible to join as a Full Member and who has an interest in healthcare practice management may apply to become an Associate Member (eg Practice Nurse, Senior Receptionist);
  2. an Associate Member has no right to vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. an Associate Member is not entitled to be considered for Membership of the Board;
  4. an Associate Member is not eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  5. an Associate Member is required to pay the annual  subscription fee
  6. an Associate Member can not be anyone currently acting in the role of Practice Manager, or actively involved (eg. Business Manager, Consultant Practice / Business Manager) in the management of healthcare practice(s)

 

Associate membership remains with the individual who has applied, not the practice.

 

 

Affiliate

 

  1. A medical, dental, physiotherapy, allied health practice, community health centre, hospital or other organisation (eg Division of General Practice) which demonstrates, in accordance with criteria determined by the Board, that it has a bona fide interest in health care may apply to become an Affiliate Member.
  2. an Affiliate Member is not entitled to vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. an Affiliate Member is not entitled to be considered for Membership of the Board;
  4. an Affiliate Member is not eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  5. an Affiliate Member is required to pay an annual subscription fee, based on the number of persons (i.e. practitioners and staff)

 

Affiliate membership remains with the practice, irrespective of staff changes.

 

 

Fellow - FAAPM

 

  1. A current Full Member who has completed the Company's Fellowship Program and meets the Company's other educational requirements may apply to become a Fellow.
  2. a Fellow is entitled to one vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. a Fellow is entitled to be considered for Membership of the Board;
  4. a Fellow is eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  5. a Fellow is required to pay the annual subscription fee.
  6. a Fellow is permitted to use their Post Nominals after their name

 

Fellow membership remains with the individual, not the practice

 

Education requirements:

 

  • Ongoing commitment to AAPM's Professional Development Program
  • Attainment of a Diploma of Practice Management or AAPM approved equivalent 
  • Completion of the AAPM Fellowship Certification Program
  • Meet the AAPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points requirement of 40 points over each three year period.

Associate Fellow - AFAAPM

 

  1. A current Full Member who has been accepted into the Company's Fellowship Program and meets the Company's other educational requirements may apply to become an Associate Fellow;
  2. an Associate Fellow is entitled to one vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. an Associate Fellow is eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  4. an Associate Fellow is required to pay the annual subscription fee
  5. an Associate Fellow is permitted to use their Post-Nominals after their name

 

Associate Fellow membership remains with the individual, not the practice


Education requirements are:

 

  • Ongoing commitment to AAPM's Professional Development Program
  • Meet the AAPM Continuing Professional Development Points (CPD) requirement of 30 points over the last three years.

Life Member - FAAPM (LIFE)

 

  1. Life Membership may be conferred by the board on a Fellow, Associate Fellow or Full Member (whether or not the Member is retired from active involvement in practice management), who has, in the opinion of the Board, given distinguished and meritorious service to the Company.
  2. a Life Member is entitled to one vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. a Life Member is entitled to be considered for Membership of the Board;
  4. a Life Member is eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  5. a Life Member is not required to pay the annual subscription fee.
  6. a Life Member is permitted to use their Post-Nominals after their name

 

 

Honorary

 

  1. Honorary Membership, may be conferred by a unanimous resolution of the Board on an individual, or organisation who is not a current Member of the Company and who will, in the opinion of the Board, by virtue of their position in the community and favourable disposition to the Company provide professional or other value to the Company
  2. an Honorary Member is not entitled to vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. an Honorary Member is not entitled to be considered for Membership of the Board;
  4. an Honorary Member is not eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  5. an Honorary Member is not required to pay the annual subscription fee.
  6. Honorary Membership is conferred in accordance with the criteria as determined by the Board
     

 

Retiree

 

  1. An AAPM Member who has retired from the workforce may apply to become a Retiree Member.
  2. a Retiree Member is not entitled to vote at any general meeting of the Company;
  3. a Retiree Member is not entitled to be considered for Membership of the Board;
  4. a Retiree Member is not eligible to be considered as a Member of a State Committee;
  5. a Retiree Member is required to pay the annual subscription fee


Fellows who retire retain their Fellowship with the Association, however are not required to meet the AAPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Point requirements.
