26 May Free Flu Vaccinations require engagement with Practice Managers May 26, 2022 By Advocacy, Media 0 The Australian Association of Practice Management (AAPM) has reiterated the need for Government to engage Practice Managers in the provision and deployment of free flu vaccinations. “Practice Managers are the nexus between policy, clinicians and health consumers, they are the workforce that respond to patient enquiries”, Miranda Grace, AAPM CEO highlighted. “Free flu vaccinations are a welcome initiative, but it is imperative Practice Managers are engaged before announcements are made public to ensure practical processes are in place”. The Queensland Government publicly announced free flu vaccinations on Monday 23 May, but the announcement lacked clarity over the processes for reimbursements and vaccination availability. Practices have been inundated with patient enquiries, but lacked suitable guidance to respond to the policy initiative. “Some other states and territories are likely to follow this initiative and it is vital they learn from the Queensland experience. Practice Managers must be engaged before the public announcement, rather than seeking information second hand via social media or other channels due to a lack of Government consultation”, Ms Grace concluded.
