Accreditation

Maintaining accreditation within a health care practice is one of the essential component of a Practice Manager's role.

It reflects to the patients that your practice adheres to the minimum standard expected within the health care industry and shows commitment to improve across all aspect of the practice operations.

RACGP 5th Edition Standards

The RACGP has developed Standards for general practices (the Standards) with the purpose of protecting patients from harm by improving the quality and safety of health services. The Standards support general practices in identifying and addressing any gaps in their systems and processes. The Standards were developed over a three-year period in consultation with general practitioners (GPs), Practice Managers, nurses, consumers and many other stakeholders. The process included stakeholder workshops, public consultation and piloting the Standards in Australian general practices.

Dental Practice Accreditation

As a Practice Manager, achieving accreditation provides policies, procedures and a framework that governs the practice and provides assurance to patients, the community and colleagues that your practice is committed to safety, quality and excellence. Accreditation for private dental practices is voluntary and conducted through a desk-top audit process. This means no one will come to your practice to assess you, rather you submit evidence to demonstrate compliance against set criteria.

If you are interested in getting your practice involved with accreditation, please contact your state/territory branch of the Australian Dental Association or email accreditation@ada.org.au.
