10 June AAPM Welcomes Mark Butler as Minister for Health June 10, 2022 By Alex Makin Advocacy, Media 0 The Australian Association of Practice Management (AAPM) congratulates Mark Butler on his appointment as Minister for Health and Aged Care and reiterates the need for Practice Managers to be recognised as a distinct stakeholder group. “The Albanese Government’s commitment to universal, prompt and world class medical care is welcomed, but will require engagement with Practice Managers as a distinct stakeholder group to succeed”, Miranda Grace, AAPM CEO stated. “Practice Managers are the nexus between policy, clinicians and health consumers and are integral to the successful implementation of voluntary patient registration and models of collaborative care”. The Albanese Government has committed to the delivery of the 10 Year Primary Health Care Plan, grants to support upskilling of staff, as well as the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce. The 2022 AAPM election statement requested funding to support workforce planning skills development and ongoing recognition of AAPM as a peak health organisation. “There is definite alignment between AAPM’s priorities, including workforce planning and support for upskilling and Government policies. We reinforce that the while the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce is a welcomed, it is vital Practice Managers are represented as a distinct stakeholder group. We look forward to working with Minister Butler to advance universal, prompt and world class medical care.”, Ms Grace concluded.
