Health Budget Success Dependent on Leveraging Practice Managers

Wednesday 30, Mar 2022

The Australian Association of Practice Management (AAPM) welcomes the 2022-23 Federal Budget, but stresses that its success is dependent on Practice Managers as a key conduit within the healthcare sector.

“Practice Managers are often the hidden layer of healthcare but will be critical to supporting the outcomes identified in this 2022-23 Federal Budget”, AAPM CEO Miranda stated.

Initiatives within the Federal Budget include $4.9 million to support quality improvement within general practice, as well as $106 million to provide a permanent commitment to Telehealth.

Primary Health Networks (PHNs) have been identified as a key intermediary between Government and the healthcare sector in the coordination of services. PHNs will continue to work alongside Practice Managers to assist in the implementation of these initiatives.

The Federal Budget allocates $4.9 million to support ongoing quality improvement within general practice. Practice Managers are often responsible for managing the accreditation process and ongoing compliance. AAPM supports this initiative and acknowledges the integral role that Practice Managers play in supporting quality improvement.

“Practice Managers are vital to the success of uplifting healthcare, their importance must be recognised as the Government implements these budget initiatives”, Ms. Grace concluded.
