From 8 September, the new daily maximum limit for multiple patient verification checks is 50 patients per upload. You can still only upload one request per day. This change has been made in response to a recommendation from the Independent Review of Health Providers’ Access to Medicare Card Numbers (the Review). (Source: Department of Human Services) Related Changes to Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) – September In response to the recommendation made by the ‘Independent Review of Health Providers' Access to Medicare Card Numbers’ the following changes will be made to HPOS in September. Help your patients know when to claim online If you claim a Medicare benefit for a patient, remind them they don’t need to submit a claim online to get their benefit. Improved Medicare Compliance: Changes to Legislation On 1 July 2018 changes occured to the Health Insurance Act 1973, the Dental Benefits Act 2008 and the National Health Act 1953, through the Health Legislation Amendment (Improved Medicare Compliance and Other Measures) Act 2018 (the Act). 1 July 2018 MBS Changes The Department of Human Health adds 1 July 2018 Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) changes to our health professional education resources. Legislative changes to tighten privacy and security protections for My Health Record In response to a growing privacy backlash, the Federal Government has announced legislative changes to My Health Record to restrict access by law enforcement and government agencies and allow records to be deleted by those who choose to withdraw from the system, with the opt out period also expected to be extended.
