Lead Medical Physicist (EMI) – 2 Years Fixed Term – FF16
 

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide to have its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories.

 

Peter Mac boasts a comprehensive range of imaging, planning and treatment equipment distributed across five sites, four city and one regional. This includes CT scanners with 4D imaging capability, PET-CT scanners, 16 linear accelerators, many of which are equipped with kilo-voltage imaging (including cone beam CT). 

 

The Physical Sciences department at Peter Mac comprises a group of 33 medical physicists (6 in training) and 5 biomedical engineers. The department’s primary role is to provide support for Peter Mac’s radiotherapy services. This includes commissioning and quality assurance of equipment, radiation safety, clinical dosimetry, and planning of specialized treatments such as brachytherapy, stereotactic therapy, whole body irradiation and IMRT. There are many opportunities for clinically relevant research and development. Current multidisciplinary research projects are primarily focused on the clinical introduction of new imaging and treatment techniques. Physicists are encouraged to engage in tumour stream activities.

 

Currently, we have an opportunity to employ a technical lead to liaise with relevant stakeholders to design and develop testing and generate relevant clinical recommendations. Medical physicists, clinical engineers or other scientific/engineering candidates with a physics qualification and a proven track record in large projects and project management especially in a health setting are encouraged to apply. The position will be offered for a fixed term of 2 years. For further information please refer to the position description.

 

Applicants will be appointed to the position of Medical Physicist, Grade 5 FF16 ($202,274.80 per annum) under the Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists (Victorian Public Sector)(Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021-2025. Generous salary packaging options are also available.
