About the business
Gordon Eye Surgery and Lane Cove Eye Surgery are a busy specialist consulting rooms with 22 ophthalmologists plus other specialists giving care to patients from all over Australia for 28 years.
We pride ourselves on providing personalised, caring treatment in the setting of a modern, fully equipped practice.
At our main site in Gordon we have up to 8 doctors working simultaneously with clinical / orthoptic staff and nurses. Our Administration Team comprises of 10 working daily with:
- 4 on our front desk
- 1-2 on our back desk
- 1 answering phones
- 1-2 booking surgeries with patients
- a typist
- an administration assistant employed through Job Support
- whilst at Lane Cove 1 receptionist works independently daily on a variety of administration tasks and 1 doctor.
This role reports to our Administration Team Leader.
We also have a Practice Manager, Business Manager and Clinical Team Leader on site for any queries and full training is provided.
About the role
Level 7/8 of the Health and Professional Services Award.
We are looking for an experienced leader with a background of specialist medical reception to ensure all 10 staff perform cohesively to provide the best service to patients and doctors.
Our Administration Team Leader is the best example and promotor of the culture of the practice's mission statement and provides support to the team; liaison between the teams and continuous improvement strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a calm, professional, fair and “can do” attitude that is happy working under pressure and able to problem solve. Patient care is our first priority and we have a lovely team with an open & friendly culture.

Hours
The current role is FULL TIME - 76 hours a fortnight.
Our roster is 8 hour shifts at our Gordon site, 6 hour shifts at our Lane Cove site, and start times vary between 7:30am to 12:30pm with finish times between 1:30pm to 7pm depending on doctor's rosters (for example, "open" is 7:30 – 3:30, "close" is 11am – 7pm and these are shared fairly across all staff members).
Rosters are released two weeks ahead and follow a four weekly rotating pattern.
The Administration Team Leader generally has:
1 administration shift per week to focus on Team Leader duties
1 shift in the Surgical Department per week
1 shift at our Lane Cove practice per fortnight including some typing
the remaining shifts as part of the administration team - the Administration Team Leader leads by example and provides daily support on the “front line”

$30-35 per hour
Essential applicant selection criteria:
- Previous 3+ years MEDICAL reception experience essential; specialist medical reception experience is preferred.
- Supervisory or leadership experience essential
- Surgery bookings or experience with hospital admission forms and theatre list preperation beneficial but not required
- Experience with VIP.net is beneficial but not required
- Typing experience beneficial but not required
