AAPM-AHIA Industrial Relations Advice Subscription Service

 

AAPM has negotiated a generous discount with industrial relations advocates, Australian Healthcare Industrial Association (AHIA) for an advice service available to AAPM members by subscription.

 

AHIA is an organisation specializing in health, welfare and community services that provide industrial relations and related services to employers and their associated companies. For the subscription fee, AHIA offers AAPM members:

 

  • binding advice on all IR matters
  • a direct, dedicated contact number for the service information provided by appropriately qualified industrial personnel - specialising in medical / allied health sector and awards
  • regular information updates on awards and IR issues
  • regular "interpretation" briefing notes on award and IR issues
  • regular HR / IR educational events (additional fees apply).

 

As part of the annual subscription, AAPM members are provided with the following:

 

  • Advisory service hotline,  open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm (AEST) Monday to Friday
  • Work cover advice hotline, open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm (AEST) Monday to Friday
  • regular publications, including:

-          awards online

-          salary circulars to notify wage or allowance adjustments

-          industrial bulletins to notify claims, progress or resolution of industrial matters affecting the industry

-          bi-monthly work cover bulletins

-          AHIA monthly newsletter, which provides general information on matters of interest to subscribers

-          AHIA's affiliate organisation, VHIA's annual training calendar, setting out details of our training short courses and accredited programs.

 

As part of the advisory service, individual practice managers can receive limited specialist telephone advice (of up to 20 minutes per occasion), in the following areas:

 

  • legal advice
  • OHS information (including Workcover advisory and training services include risk assessment & management; safety audits; effective claims management; identifying light duties and dealing with long-term disability)
  • EEO information & advice
  • industrial relations information & advice  including award interpretation
  • human resources &  employment information and advice ( including performance management and reviews; change management; work/life balance; recruitment & induction and mediation)
  • specialist advice in relation to

 

-          negotiating employment agreements and contracts

-          disciplinary matters

-          dismissal / retrenchment

-          bullying & harassment

-          compliance with awards & agreements.

 

Where a matter needs to be referred from the advisory service line to one of our practitioners for assistance there is a fee for the service at an agreed reduced rate for AAPM members.
