About Convocation
Convocation is a part of the Associations Annual General Meeting.
It is intended as an opportunity for members to be able to raise matters of importance with other members and to alert National Board to the issues that Practice Managers consider important.
Standing Orders
The Board has formulated the following standing orders for Convocation:
• The item for discussion must be on the prescribed form and be in the hands of the National Secretariat by 5pm on the 1st September 2005
• There requires to be a presenter of the item and a seconder of the item
• There requires to be some background on the item (no more than 500 words)
• There is required to be a stated desired outcome
• There is required to be a written proposed motion
Each presenter will have five minutes to introduce his or her item. The seconder will then have three minutes to speak.
• Other speakers from the floor will have up to three minutes to speak.
• The presenter will have an additional two minutes' speaking time at the end of the discussion period and before the proposed motion (if any) is put to the vote of the meeting.
Please note that resolutions passed by Convocation are not binding on Board of the Association, but the Board must consider all items endorsed by Convocation.
