AAPM Membership

Membership Categories

The AAPM has a wide range of membership categories enabling healthcare practice managers in differing practice environments to select and benefit from a membership type that best suits them. 
 
Those wishing to join the AAPM must comply with the AAPM Code of Ethics and are encouraged to pursue ongoing education through the AAPM Professional Development Program.
 
Fellows and Associate Fellows must meet minimum education points on a continuing basis.

Member – MAAPM
A member must be a current practice manager.  Application is based on supporting documentation confirming their position as a practice manager. Lapsed members have to re-qualify after 12 months.
 
Education requirements are:

• Ongoing commitment to AAPM’s Professional Development Program.
  * Member membership remains with the individual not the practice.

Associate
Associates can be an individual or organisation that has an interest in healthcare practice management. No supporting documentation is required for applications, just completion of the Application Form.

Practice Nurse
The practice nurse category encourages nurses (including dental nurses) working in a healthcare practice to become involved with the AAPM. A practice nurse must demonstrate active involvement in healthcare practice management. Application should be based on a curriculum vitae and reference from current employer.

Education requirements are:

• Industry specific or relevant qualifications
• Ongoing commitment to AAPM’s Professional Development Program.
  * Practice Nurse membership remains with the individual not the practice.

Affiliate
Affiliate membership covers medical, dental, physiotherapy and allied healthcare practices, community health centres and hospitals. Affiliate membership encourages multiple bona fide persons within a single practice to participate in the services of the AAPM.

Education requirements:

• Ongoing commitment to AAPM’s Continuing Professional Development Program.
  * Affiliate membership remains with the practice irrespective of staff changes.

Subscriptions are based on the number of persons (i.e. practitioners and staff, whether full or part-time).

Associate Fellow – AFAAPM
An Associate Fellow is a member of AAPM who is accepted into the AAPM Fellowship Program.
 
Education requirements are:

• Ongoing commitment to AAPM’s Professional Development Program
• Meet the AAPM Continuing Professional Development Points (CPD) requirement of 30 points over the last three years.
  * Associate Fellow membership remains with the individual not the practice.

Fellow – FAAPM
A Fellow is a member who completes the AAPM Fellowship Certification Program.

Education requirements:

• Ongoing commitment to AAPM’s Professional Development Program
• Attainment of a Diploma of Practice Management or AAPM approved equivalent 
• Completion of the AAPM Fellowship Certification Program
• Meet the AAPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points requirement of 40 points over each three year period.
  * Fellow membership remains with the individual not the practice.

Retiree
A Retiree member is a past AAPM member who has retired from the workforce. Fellows who retire retain their Fellowship with the Association, however are not required to meet the AAPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Point requirements.

Life Member – FAAPM (LIFE)
Life membership is a rare honour bestowed on a Fellow of the Association by the National Board of the AAPM.

Honorary membership is a rare honour bestowed on a member of the community in recognition of an outstanding contribution to AAPM.
